The disaster with all the flooding and rainfall has it has any effect on the Northern Coast around Sousa? As in mudding up the water or swimming restrictions? How far away from Sousa was all this damage done?

There is absolutely no problem in the North

This was a post that a DR1 moderaor did yesterday (Dolores) -

Have been receiving quite a few questions by email focusing on the weather after all the press on the floods that have been appearing internationally. It appears that the country has been drowning!

One person who will be coming to Puerto Plata says that after "hearing about the floods, and the rain and hurricans has put us off so much. Whats the real score?! is it going to rain and rain , like UK weather?"

The answer is NO, NO, NO. Tourists arriving to Puerto Plata will not notice a single thing. In Puerto Plata there are lots of trees and it rains all the time. The problem with the floods that have been covered internationally was the flooding in Jimani which was caused because of major deforestation. This caused the rivers, that had dried out, when so much extraordinary rain fell, to return to their old banks, and then not finding the river, flood a large area.

But Jimani is about 15 hour drive from Puerto Plata. It is far away. It is like floods happening in Scotland affecting London.

Anyway, Caribbean weather is not like UK weather. See http://www.dr1.com/travel/expect/weather.shtml

Thank you for your information. We'll be coming to the Sousa area on the 19th of June and plan on doing a lot of water stuff. Last vacation we had was to Puerto Vallarta after heavy rains and the ocean was solid brown so needless to say that our water activites weren't very good. Thanks again for the info.
