If you're looking to party, forget Punta cana, it has almost nothing in the way of clubs/discos outside of the resorts.

Santo Domingo is the gay capital of the DR, plenty of bars and clubs to keep you happy, or your boyfriend, or whatever...

Santo Domingo? It's 3.5-4hrs drive away from Punta Cana providing you hit no traffic.

Go to Cabarete instead, there's beach and a reasonable-sized weekend gay population (proportional to it's size) in the dance clubs.

Too Far

About 10 hours altogether, 4-5 hours to Santo Domingo then another 5 hours north to POP/Sosua/Cabarete area. You want to do Cabarete next time, fly into Puerto Plata airport instead of Punta Cana.
