Techno-geeks,

I am wondering if WiFi or BlueTooth wireless service is available in country. It is looking like I might need it. I would think that the capital would have a hot spot or two, but I can't find a listing anywhere that would confirm this.

Verizon provides several wifi hot spots in Santo Domingo oficially, one of them located in Acropolis Center.

At same time it's possible to find several unsecured wifi networks here, so you can use them for free.

The hotspot in the Acropolis is almost useless. . . . . . . Well not really, but
they have a single access point located near the BACK of the store. So. . . . .reception os OK IN the store. Out in the mall you need to be near the codetel office.

I suggested they move it near the front window, so the store is still covered, but you would also most likely be able to sit at the bar at fridays and be online. They have a machine hooked up wifi to demo and it is right below the access point. . . . .yeah that is impressive;-)

You also need a codetel/verizon Flash acount to access these hotspots. Pretty silly. Why not use free hotspots to market to NEW Flash customers? Or have a per hour rate for tourists etc?
