I am from FL and there are numerous casino boats up and down the coast. I haven't seen or heard of any here. Does anybody know if there are any? I see in the DR that gambling is big business. If there aren't any casino boats here do you think that people would go out on them? In the states getting a license to gamble off shores is much easier then getting one on land. I know this isn't the states, but it is still international waters if you go a couple miles off the coast. Do they have a strict coast guard here? Would anybody know where to go and inquire about getting the license and a price range on it? Anybody know if the same international laws would apply off the coast here as in the states. I would appreciate anybodies comments, input, or ideas. Thanks Conor

The reason for "Casino Boats/Riverboats" in the USA is

as you said, you can get a license to gamble on "water",but not on land.Soooooo,if you can gamble on land almost everywhere in the DR,why go to the great expense of having a "Floating" casino.I don't think your idea will "Float"! :cheeky: Cris Colon

I think it would be a wonderful idea.....tourists could very well enjoy the idea of a huge casino ship.Advertise it in those brochures for all inclusive resorts. Older folks who are not interested in the disco's and such would probably be interested.DR is beautiful to see from the water.Iv'e been on a casino ship from Florida,it was 5 bucks to get on......it was an awesome time.....live entertainment, free drinks and a buffet.I think your idea is great!

Find out if someone tried it first.
Casino boats are numerous in many states because those states does not legalize gambling on land, so they have to float out before they can turn on the slots. There may not be an interest in the DR, since you can gamble legally here. Why hop on a boat and pay more? Unless you can answer that question, you'll probably would have a rough time "staying afloat" :)
