Could someone confirm if a direct call be made from a DR home phone/landline to a 1-800 or any other "toll-free" number in the US without incurring any charges on the DR phone bill?

Thanks, Jeanmarie

To dial an 800 number from the D.R. to the U.S. you must change the 800 to 880. You will be billed the same rate as a regular call to the U.S.

Some American companies operating in the Caribbean have international 800 numbers, meaning, they work from some Caribbean countries (or any country with an area code pre-fix, not a country code). For example American Airlines' 800 number works in Canada and The Bahamas, while for most others you would have to dial the 888 in order to reach them (like in the DR), and be charged for them. Not sure if this is the same in the DR, but one would assume so.
