I think that you are truly lovely people, this is exactly how I believe the Dominican people to be.

I just ask that you remember the feelings of the families,

friends, and just plain "Folks",who lost someone on those flights! A friend of our son,and family, who vacationed with us many times was on one of the flights from Boston. We miss him!
Also remember the flight from NYC to Santo Domingo, that was filled with Dominicans on their way to Santo Domingo, that crashed in New York about 2 months after "9/11"! For me,at least, your "Joke"is not funny!

as a 9/11 survivor (i was in the trade towers that morning) and seeing the people jumping from the buildings.....and living with the fear of another terrorist attack every day while communiting to work....i somehow do not take offence to the joke. If anything...we NEED humor to help us lighten up while faced with this reality.

After 9/11...i just soooooooooo wanted to go to the D.R. I felt that would be some place I would feel free from the worry of another terrorist attack.

I dont think the joke pokes fun at any of the victims....it is just a humorous yet sad comment on the current world we live in.

Criss, my intention was not to hurt anyone. This joke was more about how Dominicans are as a population rather than what happened in 9/11.

My husband worked at the towers and I had to commute through the WWTC everyday until THAT day, ironically we overslept. We lost friends as well and we also lost our jobs, however, I refuse to let anyone take the joy out of my life - which is what 'they' want.

I know what happened is not funny, but I believe that humor is a good way of healing. Like Jersey Guy said, it does help.

I've always been selective with the jokes I share, I willl take what you said into consideration next time.

I'm sorry for your loss.
