I'm a fifty year old widower traveling to the D. R. for the first time with a single friend of the same years. I have no misconceptions about how I look. Almost bald and overweight,low self esteem,and single for the first time in decades is not condusive to meeting ladies. I am not looking for romance nor am I ready to become involved with the scene. Any suggestions on how I can hook up for companionship and "pleasure" would be greatly appreciated. I understand there are many women there that are kind but professional. I can't be bothered wasting a great deal of time, or energy. I just want to spend some cash and relax.

Yep, no matter what kind of lady your with here, being old and/or bald is not much of a hinderance, there being something of an old fashioned thing going on, basically it's a man's responsibility to have money and a woman's responsibility to be beautiful, so do your job and let them do theirs.

Don't worry you'll do fine.. esp since you seem not to deceive yourself. Enjoy the nice wheather, the sunshine and the natural environment. Go out for a drink in the afternoon and there will be plenty of women who approach you.. you can sit back and relax...
Some important points imo:
1) Make it clear what you want up front while sipping a beer and getting to know each other a bit.. get someone to translate if you must.
2) Do not pay in advance.. tell her you'll pay her after the work.. with the message that good work brings a higher reward..
3) I recommend that you get yourself a guide.. you will pay for his beers, his car and his contacts but he will ensure you have a good time and stay save..

Hey, you just described me. Don't worry, you will find plenty of wives here. Just stay away from sosua becuase its full of UBH's of the worst kind. Like the monsters from "Lord of the ring" movie. Stay in Santo domingo and please don't pick up the first fat slob that comes your way. Wait and pick and choose. remember, you are the one with money so you deserve the best. There we go again. Prostitution is all over the world, even in saudi arabia. Now do you think for a second we guys are putting a gun to their heads to force them to sell their bodies? Its not the society which is pushing these women to do such things, in reality, these women are lazy and seek easy money. Even if they are offered better lives and a better job that requieres responsibilty and hardwork, they quit and go back to streets again. These women are simply lazy hookers and thats that. For every guy who exploits a woman in DR, there is another one exploiting a woman in his home country in the same manner. He just a lot wealthier than the guy who goes to DR. Here in Atlanta, I live, I was told by a vice cop that only streetly level prostitution is actively prosecuted. There are ads for "escorts" in magazines, on the internet and in the back of free newspapers. Go certain upscale Steakhouses or nightclubs and you will find hookers mingling with Bob from suburbs, married to the soccer mom with two kids.

1. They are sex workers, you pay for sex, getting to know each other over drinks is ridiculous. She is not a date or a new a girlfriend , period. Set the price in advance absolutely, in writing and in PESOS, and make sure she has REAL ID (a cedula with a hologram and make sure she actually is the same girl in the picture - I am not kidding)
2. Tipping is a waste of money. I suspect you will get totally ripped off the first few times and not speaking Spanish and tipping is like overpaying for a bad meal and bad service and then 15% more. Don't bother.

There is NOTHING good with a guide. You will not be particularly safe either. If you go to a massage parlor theywill add at least RD$700 to the already stupidly high price becuase your "pal" gets a kickback.
NB: The proprietor of a hotel may offer 1/2 decent advice, that said, these joints in Sosua that bring in the girls for you rip you off as well, frankly, by double, in my opinion.

I agree. Go to Sosua. Stay in a guest friendly hotel. Find out what the going rate is for a girl. Offer less. Have sex with her.
No need to complicate things.

Hang out in any Vegas casino with the "look" of having a few bucks, quick action
Do the same in any upscale club in NYC, LA, Phoenix etc
or go to most of the Central/East European Countries, or maybe try SE Asia, its a worldwide profession
