Can anyone tell me what would happen if I stay in the D.R. for more than the three months max.

Go to the site links for Russin Vecchi & Heredia Bonetti here on DR1. They have a FAQ for stuff like this.

As I remember, if you will not be working or in residence conditions, you can go and apply for a special extended visitor's visa, which is no big deal, and they give it to you for about $40 or so.

If you stay longer than 2 months-not three- you'll have topay a small fine-I think the maximum is $200 RD. Sometimes you're charged and sometimes not.

I stayed 6 months one time and nothing happened. The key to staying is however have a return ticket when you first arrive. I arrived with a return ticket and left with a one way ticket. No problem!

hi I stay in the D.R. for several months, and all i have to do is pay peso fine of about 150 to 235 D.R. pesos. I have never had a problem and always pay at the airport on departure. Have a good trip and enjoy a lovely land and people.
