I have done some searching but just cannot find the answer. :( I have stayed in Boca Chica but now I want to spend a few days in the Capitol. Can anyone tell me of hotels in Santo Dominigo that are guest friendly? If guest friendly is there a fee? I would like to find something in the $50 to $80 US range.
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards,
Bacon

Technically YOU Are the Guest

That what they call it when you check in, right? A guest of this fine hotel. So unless the staff is surly all of them would be guest friendly. Hope this helps you enjoy the fine DR hospitality.

Oops....................

Unless you mean (and I bet you do, I bet you do squire, nudge, nudge, wink, wink) ladies of the night, strumpets, harlots, women of loose morals, Betty Round Heels, in which case, I hear the Jaragua is remarkably discreet, though too much for your slightly low budget, so try the Palacio or Hotel El Conde, though the latter I think was ten skins extra. Maybe the Courtyard Marriott as well.

Speaking of skins make sure you wear one (or ten) .

I sent an email to the Palacio and asked if "Are unregistered guests allowed in rooms overnight? If allowed is there any additional fee for this?"
I received the following reply "Unregistered guests are not allowed."

Friendly

The Dominican Fiesta Hotel is also guest friendly.
Sorry no website.
Make the reservation Spanish for the "non-gringo" rate.
They will try to charge you $100 in English.
Tell them you are a regular and live in Santiago for $60 rate!

I am thinking in response to a direct query they make take the high ground, as it has been known to be popular in this regard. As to Lechero's advice it is worth a try though I always wonder when a "Dominican" calls to reserve and a gringo shows up if they realize they've been suckered or they take the reservation as is.

Or the El Conde, great location.

Thanks for the replies.

I was online shortly after I made this post and saw Lechero's reply. A few minutes later it appeared that he edited the post and removed a suggestion for this hotel www.hotelduque.com
Kind of wonder why as I checked with them and they replied it is ok to have overnight guest for additional fee $6 US.
It is forums like this that make travels better for all. Thanks again for the replies. :D I will post a trip report if I am able to finalize a trip and make it back to DR.

Duque de Wellington

I later read Duque is a little too friendly!
If you do not mind the boys, it's fine for one or two nights and very convenient to the finer establishments in Gazcue.

If you want a pool and casino, I recommend The Dominican Fiesta.
100% "G. friendly." It is a cab ride to parts of Santo Domingo.
Duque is very close to Jaragua and 10 minute walk to El Conde.
Just a tad "alternative"! PM me if you need "site seeing" ideas!
