Usair New Route FLL-SDQ

Usair is expected to announce on Monday that Fort Lauderdale will become its new focus city. With that, they will have a new nonstop service from Fort Lauderdale to Santo Domingo starting February 2005. Other cities that will be flown from FLL are:

-Panama
-Cancun
-Guatemala
-San Salvador
-Kingston
-San Jose
-San Juan
-Newark
-Boston
-Orlando

Plus other more. The schedule for the SDQ flight will be the following:

Eff. 13Feb05
US 287 FLL 1100-1404 SDQ Daily 319
US 312 SDQ 1500-1619 FLL Daily 319

It looks like there will be more choices when connecting in florida, that are not going to be only AA in Miami.

Very interesting. So there will be one airline (AA) connecting Miami to SDQ, and three airlines (AA, US Airways and Spirit) connecting Ft. Lauderdale to SDQ. Well, that can't last very long, can it?

Seems to me that FLL-STI would might be a better niche for US Airways, at least until US Airways goes out of business and Jetblue starts to fly the route.

I hate going through MIA. This would help a lot. Please keep me posted should things change. I have never flown USAIR, but there is always a first time.
