I don't know if someone has already mentioned this somewhere and i couldnt find it but...............

How has the passing Hurricane affected Puerto Plata airport? Has it been closed for today? (Sep 1st) Any information would be very much appreciated.

Well, in answer to my own post......................yes the airport is open today because i read it somewhere else.
