Can anyone that lives in Santo Domingo inform me if it is REALISTIC to get a three bedroom apartment in a middle-class neighborhood in Santo Domingo :nervous: :nervous: for about $ 200-$250 U.S. a month?

No! And if you find one, it will be a mess and a reason it's only US$250.

In Zona Oriental you will be able to pick up a reasonable 3 bedroom apartment for RD$7-10,000 (US$230-330) providing a local does the negotiating for you. Yes, it has some ok areas, but it would not be what I would call middle class.
