These photos are a couple of days old.

As you can see, all is looking good and work on the new permanent bridge is progressing rapidly.

Geez... couldn't they have made that bridge a bit wider?? Everytime I cross it on the bus I keep thinking the driver'll get his mirror ripped off. I'm glad it's moving along so quickly but I would have thought they'd have taken into consider the amount of cars that cross it every day...

The plan is to make both of the bridges one way. In case of flooding, though, the permanent bridge, which was built up higher than the previous one, would become the primary bridge again. So far the causeway has worked well.

Look at the puente flota in Santo Domingo. If I remember right it was supposed to be in use until the 27th feb bridge was rebuilt or repaired.

that was about 5 years ago?>?

While this was first called the temporary bridge, since the plan is to use it for one way traffic, it no longer can be called that. Thus we referred to it as a causeway. It will be in permanent use, unless it gets washed away.
