I have next week off thanks to the Pilgrims.

Just searching around I found a great flight with hotel package. The hotel is in Juan Dolio. It's called Ocean Arc Decameron Beach and Casino. I haven't purchased yet because I have some questions.

I've never been to an AI, never even been a tourist, really...but my flight is into SDQ and I am not about to hit my Puerto Plata friends up for a surprise visit...plus all I want to do is read, write, and get a tan.

What is the best way to get from the airport over to the resort? (Remember I am a cheap traveller and if you say "motoconcho will get you there" I probably would do that.) Do they offer a bus?

Also, would anyone from SD be willing to give me a ride up to the thanksgiving bash in Sosua, and back...? Or is it just as easy to get a caribe tours bus...I'd probably stay the night in Sosua, is this an issue for the resort in Juan Dolio? (Don't know why it would be but...I have to ask).

This is a last minute thing. I'm pale as a sheet and need some sun.

Your package to an AI should include transport from the airport to the hotel and back. If you are buying on line it should tell you what is included and if it's through a travel agent they should tell you as well.

As far as the hotel caring if you leave for Sosua, that should not be a problem. You've paid your money, you can go where ever you want.

Let us know if you're planning to give up some valuable sunbathing time for a jaunt to the capital. The Aunties-who-lunch await. ;)

It's definitely the school teacher in me. So many field trips, not one lost kid...(I even took students to the DR once!) but I had a momentary vision of security at the hotel doing a search....

Hi ..... I think we wrote to each other when I was going to Maine back in June. Unfortunately we could not meet up as the timing was bad.

As for getting to Sosua from SD.... I think Robert was offering rides from SD to Sosua for the Thanksgiving here otherwise Caribe tours costs around 200 pesos. I will be at the Thanksgiving celebrations so I look forward to meeting you then. If I can help you with accommodation for the night let me know I live in Sosua and of course I would be happy to pick you up from Caribe Tours.. just let me know....

If robert leaves you plantada, then just come over to santiago on metro or caribe tours and I will get you there in my AZB mobile.
Let me know if you are up for an adventure ride. I love to hit potholes and then change tire on the road.

Caribe Tours (Metro too) run north and south - SD to the north shore and Santiago. East-west you can try for the Bavaro or Higuey buses or take a taxi or use a series of guaguas.
