I am interested in travelling with 5 of my mates to the DR in June this.
I would just like to know how safe it would be for 5 blokes to stay in Santo Domingo, enjoy the nightlife, drink beer , meet women etc. Would it be safe going out for drinks at night time. I really would like to stay out of the resorts and get to know the real country but I am wary. I have been to Cuba twice and loved it but Cuba is known to be very safe and that is exactly how I found it. I have also heard that Jamaica is very dangerous outside the resorts, especially around kingston. Where does DR and Santo Domingo in particular lie in between these extremes.
Does anyone know of any hotels near the beach that would also be near SD?
