Salami Induveca

Maybe someone knows... I know that salami Induveca can be purchased along with other Cibao Meat Co. products in states such as New York, Florida, New Jersey and a few other select east coast states. My question is: is it possible to buy salami Induveca in the west? Specifically in Albuquerque, New Mexico? I have not found any distributer here; is there a website where I could order it?

Salami

We have had good luck with friends sending it from Miami to Salt Lake. I will ask my friend in Miami how they shipped it to us. I doubt it was over night. But both the Salami and aguacate were great when they arrived.

Here in Anchorage Alaska there is a little Dominican grocery that sells them outrageously expensive at $19.95 when I am very sure that she does not pays more than $6.00 dollars in NY.

Not the Same

The "Induveca" salami sold in the US is manufactured by Cibao Meat Products in New York. The company uses the Induveca and "Sosua" names under license. The finished product is noticably different from the Induveca sold in the DR.

In addition, for real La Vega-made Induveca to be sold in the US, all kinds of difficult licenses and inspections would have to happen. Moreover, the brand name has already been licensed to a US meat packer.

Why all the ruckus over this concoction of mechanically separated beef hearts anyway?

I do not mean to insult anyone's taste, but that Salami is from parts of a cow that USDA would not even be able to identify. Without getting into details, my body rejected The Induveca I ate last trip!

Try this website if you want actual "Salami". http://www.fioruccifoods.com/our-products/salami.html

I know that induveca isn't exactly a health food by any means, but, while living in the DR for a couple years, I got hooked. I don't care what part of the cow it came from, nothing beats the taste of salami induveca super especial with tostones or a little yuca. Heck, frito-lay makes a salami induveca flavored platanitos chips in Santo Domingo!

Believe it or not there is an adequate population of dominicans living in Anchorage Alaska.
