We are going to the Hacienda in Feb too

Through an RCI timeshare exchange. It is our 10th wedding anniversary and was a gift from my parents. We have really been looking forward to it, but now reading all the scary reviews, I am not so sure!aranoid:

My cousin works here selling timeshare. And I have a friend who works here in animation. Ive never stayed here though...looks nice from cofresi beach.

Stayed there recently on occasion of the opening of the Ocean World casino and marina that is nearby. This is not a deluxe resort, but is a comfortable property. Take an airport taxi to the hotel. It is much easier than having someone wait for you. Their rates are fixed, ask before boarding. The only problem with Puerto Plata this winter season is that the government is fixing the entrance road and there are big detours. But that is not a problem if you take a taxi or once you understand the detour, in case you rent a car. The better part of Puerto Plata vacations is that you have much to see. Visit the Victorian houses in the center of town, the amber museum, take the tour up to the botanical gardens by way of the sky lift. Be sure to visit Damajagua Falls. You can book the excursion at the Falls site (any taxi will take you there). Drive out to La Isabela, where Columbus built the first settlement and have lunch at Nina's, in front of El Castillo town park. Great grilled fish and conch salad. Head out to Sosua Beach and Cabarete beach, and even Playa Grande beach. Get a good map and drive around. Always leave early so you can be back before dark. Night time driving not recommended.

I've stayed there twice. It's a great resort and the villas are an upscale option vs normal timeshare condos. Very comfortable with private pools, dedicated maid service for the week, breakfast in the villa each day plus lots of other options like VIP World. They are remodeling all rooms at the resort. Lots of money being invested. It is an RCI Gold Crown Resort. I think you'll find it to be a very nice vacation. Don't worry about old reviews.

Well - this question was asked somewhere else. Im going on the 15th and will be more than happy to report back on this place.

Reports are mixed - however the web site looks fantastic.
Ive done the VIP time share meeting - didnt pay the down payment - thought I would visit first before I invest!

They seem to advertiste transfer from airport to the resort BY HELICOPTER for free for platnium members. Does it really happen? I cant imagine it does.

I'm a Platinum member. I've done the helicopter transfer from the airport to the resort. Pretty sweet! Kind of makes you fell like a VIP. This is a great resort but they will need to work a little on their level of service. They really want to to be a 5 Star resort and they're working hard at it.

I think the thing for folks who are going to keep in mind is that this is actually 4 resorts in !. You've the following resorts you can be reserved in separately;

Hacienda Tropical Hotel & Spa
Vitalis Gardens
Lifestyle Penthouse Suites
Lifestyle Crown Villas

Vitalis Gardens is at the bottom in this group of resorts within a resort. Rooms are very small more like huts. All other accommodations are pretty nice. The Crown Villas are private residences with private pools. You'll definitely enjoy the villa experience. It is a timeshare resort so they will try to sell you something.

Wow............sounds like a super deal, just out of curiosity what would one have to pay for a Platinum membership with of course the Helicopter transfers included and not to mention the V.I.P. feeling?

So so tired - just catching up on the DR boards while Ive been away for two weeks at Lifestyle Crown Villas.

I will post a full trip report tomorrow - however this place has a strap line of "tell it only to your best friends". One of the few moments of fun was finding a lamp shade with this slogan on and some funny bastard had written "as they will be more likely to forgive you".

Everybody is different - and wants different things from their holiday - but right now UNLESS you are a MEMBER its not great folkes!

Lifestyle Hacienda Resort-RCI but go with Vacation Club Owner for VIP

The Lifestyle Hacienda Resort is a wonderful resort. The trick is to book with a vacation club owner because then you will have access to all the VIP amenities. These VIP amenities are outstanding, they include the VIP beach VIP pool that is full of the most comfortable sun beds and pillows ! Premium Brand alcohol, VIP Gourmet Restaurant, 30% discount on spa treatments and tours, VIP Galas and more !

The rate will be much lower if you book with a lifestyle hacienda vacation club owner !
