I'm moving to Santiago at the end of the year and I was wondering how would I go about importing some handguns that I currently own. A vintage mil-spec 1911 and a factory custom Springfield Armory 1911. I reside in NYC and I legally have them registered as per law as well as a license to own them. It would be a shame if I would have to leave them with my father much less if I would have to sell them. Also are there any legal shooting ranges in DR or am I just kidding myself. Any info you wonderful people can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Unless you have a MAJOR in with the local military

Leave them at home.

the .45 is considered to be a military handgun and no Dominican is allowed to won a rifle. Only shotguns.

Permits are $200+ a year and the rigamarol is crazy.

Leave them at home until you size up the situation.
