" Kreyol" or something like that is the language of the masses in Haiti.
Creole is the language of the folks around New Orleans
A creole is a person born in the Americas of foreign parents: French Creole, Spanish Creole and so forth. Somehow it has come to mean a child of mixed (usually Indian-Spanish, but also nowadays Black-Spanish or Portuguese) parentage.
Creoles are rarely accepted as " real" citizens of their parent's native lands...
And "criollos" are 'real' Dominicans!
