My family will be go to Punta Cana for a one week vacation in early September, 2005. We will be staying at the Natura Park Spa and Resort. If you have stayed at this resort recently, we like to find out from you youe experience at this resort. If you have done any fishing at all in or near the resort, please let us know how the fishing was. What kind of fish can we expect to catch in September? What kind of tackle, lure, bait we should bring. Name of chartered boats for reef / bottom fishing will be much appreciated. My e-mail address is crappies23@yahoo.ca.

As far as fishing you can go north of the resort a few hundred yards and do some surf fishing for red snapper and smaller ocean fish all by the way bigger than crappies, to the south of the resort opposite the Sunscape Grand there are lots of deep sea charter boats.

Fishing

Don't bring anything, there is no fishing locally, you have to charter a boat for a half or full day. Be prepared to pay between 300-500US. You go out about 30 miles into the "Mona Passage" which is the channel between DR and Puerto Rico, about 80 wide. The chaters are available through your hotel or just ask someone on the beach. All equipment is supplied and on a good day you can catch Marlin, but expect mostly Dorado, Kingfish, Baracuda etc. Have a good time and make sure you stay in the night before, and if you get sea sick or not bring motion sickness pills, you will need them, the water going out is "The Perfect Storm"

There are tours without having to do charter as well.
The cost per person is 90 US for fishing and to go on watching is a little cheaper. That includes drinks, lunch and the fishing.
One company in Punta Cana is Gone Fishing, and you?ll find more info on
