DR assessment is on pages 96-97.

Interestingly, the US State Department "Trafficking in Persons Report" dated June 2005 report suggests that the DR government violate the law. It criticizes that the government "continues to deny birth certificates to Haitians born in the Dominican Republic". This is mentioned in the context that this leaves these children more vulnerable to traffickers and also leaves them without access to certain services.

The assessment, in its criticism of Dominican government action, fails to note that there is a Migration Law that specifically states that children born in the DR of parents that are not legal residents are not due Dominican nationality. This applies for children of parents of any nationality.

...who elected the U.S. policeman, judge and jury...?

It has been historically outrageous and laughable that all U.S. governments decide to write up watchlists judging other countries by its own standards while at the same time obviating their own 'sins'. The question to be asked is 'who elected the U.S. policeman, judge and jury on other countries' social and political issues?'.

It would be much more advisable for the U.S. to re-examine its centuries-old meddling and be more self-evaluating on its imperialistic (yes, that old over-used term but still very applicable) ways invading whatever country it wants, killing the citizens by the thousands while over-valuing its own losses. And to say nothing of taking the wrong sides in some instances or supporting murderous and barbaric heads of state such as Sharon of Israel, in detriment of a huge, over-abused majority. Something that is being paid for (9-11 and the way the American psyche has been changed forever) and will continue to be a thorn on the U.S.'s side.

And what about propping up its own set of dictators to drop them later when they are no longer useful; i.e.: Somoza of Nicaragua, Pinochet of Chile, Noriega of Panama, Trujillo of the Dominican Republic, the Shah of Iran,
Saddam Hussein, yes, the U.S.'s darling in the Iran-Iraq War, etc., etc.
What chutzpah!

The U.S. goes around the world touting Democracy, yet they stand shoulder to shoulder with the Saudis. When was the last election in Saudi Arabia?

The Good Ole USofA, only cares for itself and its interest, there must be a hidden agenda behind the watch list.

After doing a quick read, my only problem is the report doesn't compare how the US is doing in comparion to other countries. Success is what counts, for example the report states that South Koreans are transiting through Canada to the states, but there is no report on the sex shops...etc in the states that they go to, the obvious problem, or at least more so than the fact that they transit through Canada, although that's not acceptable either.

Believe it or not, a very informative post! This is a genuine example of the double standard typical of the USA. We can criticize, invade and make lists about everyone in the world and of course exclude ourselves but don't you dare say anything bad about us or we'll tell our mommies. Grow up! Get use to reality. If you don't like that reality change it but don't act or rather react like an ignorant.

Don't worry John Kerry will be able to run for President in a few more years and all your problems will be solved.
