Can any1 comment about religion in the Dominican? Ive gathered that Catholicism is the major religion of the country, but how important (if at all) is it really in the lives of the dominicans? I found it a bit odd that many of the locals we met had names with biblical significance and other suggestions of Christianity were all around (i.e many wore a crucifix), and yet, some common behaviours in the country seemed very...contra-religious. If anyone can solve the mystery of religion the DR, i'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks.
