You know what I mean...Like tigre=the guys you have to watch out for in the streets
In english I thought of a tiger as a go-getter. Someone tough in business and life.

There are others..Like in ee.uu we call someone that is afraid a chicken but not in DR.

I just want to get my animal names straight.

I have heard of

Un Caballo (a horse) is someone who masters certain abilities.
Un pollo (a chicken) is someone handsome, good looking or elegant (used for guys). My partner says "era un pollo manilo" lol

Maybe a native dominican can elaborate better those animals' meaning.

Una vibora is a bad woman.
Un burro is someone that is dumb.
Un leon is someone that is great in a certain skill.
Una ballena is a woman that is very fat.

Una Chiva = a female who is boy crazy. Comes from chivirica.
largato or lombris= a skinny person.
Una serpiente venenosa= a mean person.
un perro= same meaning in english. Describes a man who is a dog.
Una perea= same meaning in english. Descrives a woman who is a bitch.
Una cacata= an ungly woman with nappy hair.
Un mono= a very ugly man.

how about

Perro for a sleazy person
avispa for a very slick/lively young girl
avestruz - a very tall woman

Un toro or una tora= is someone that through its agility is gaining or accomplinshing something to survive. For instance you often hear the phrase "Se la esta buscando como un toro/una tora." Hard to translate.

un gato (cat) is someone who fiercely deffends their position (I have heard it specially in arguments or in complicated situations)... "Se defendio como gato panza arriba" (translation?)
