Hacienda Elisabeth is in Cofresi... approx. 5 kms. from Puerto Plata hence 7kms from Playa Dorada. Beach in Cofresi is quiete nice. From comments of visitors at Hacienda .... very good. May I add... if you do get bored with breakfasts buffet you can always come and visit Sofy's B&B... best place for breakfasts in Puerto Plata!!!!! Cheers and hope you have a good holiday. Noelle

We stayed at the Hacienda Tropical last January (there are several different hotels in this resort area). The beach is a short walk from the Elizabeth with golden sand. The water can get a bit rough at times but that can be alot of fun if you like body surfing or boogie boarding. You may have to rent chairs from the locals on the beach because the resort does not provide enough(that may not be as big of a problem in April). There is some shopping within walking distance and also currency exchange places with far better rates than the hotels. There is restaurant within walking distance from the Tropical that is fabulous. Its called Chris and Mady's and it is very clean and the food is amazing and reasonably priced.(The restraunt is owned by a Canadian!) If you have any other questions feel free to email me.
