STI Airport suffered a local tornado at around 03:12pm when winds of up to 60knts/111.9km/h destroyed 2 cessna 172 light aircraft that where tied down in the general aviation ramp..... Those winds are almost a category I hurricane.....
Fences where brought down and part of the roof in the ramp and the roof of the 2nd floor of the main terminal where ripped off...... Cargo containers where flown hundreds of feet al around the airports perimeter
Thankfully there where no major injuries reported and flight 2054 was cancelled and flown today at 7:00am because of a cracked window
On a cheerful note i want to congratulate all the personnel that was involved in the operations of organizing and reestructuring the order in the airport after a very eventful afternoon......... Ops Department definetly deserves it props......
