I have a cousin who is interested in looking into establishing an "Internet Gaming" business and was looking towards the DR for the purpose of establishing and basing the site. Does anyone have any info how one can go about doing this, or a contact for someone who can assist to this end?

I am not talking about an "Internet Cafe", nor a "Casino", but Internet Gaming. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If he wants to do this I would not be talking about it here, or anywhere. If the DNI finds out they will want more than you can make for themselves. I know what I am talking about.

Understood

I attempted while there recently to acquire info and couldn't obtain any. Didn't know it would be a problem here.

BTW, what is DNI?

If by "gaming" you mean

Ponies and sports book,

it has been done and it is being done as we speak.

When you come down, let me know and I'll put you in contact with a guy that has been at it for years...

Thanks much

Hillbilly, thanks for your offer, and I will be sure to contact you the next time I arrive (December, possibly November) and maybe we can speak in more specific terms then.

I would strongly suggest that you talk this through with a knowledgable lawyer to get the legal facts before spending too much time on this. I would also not place an internet gaming site on the DR's internet infrastructure. Yes, it can be run from here, but I would rather place the infrastructure/servers on another island. There are two islands well known for encouraging this type of internet business. If you want to create gaming 'parlors'.. don't do it in the DR..
