As I'm studying Spanish with my niece who is 11 years old it might be useful to communicate some of the Spanish rules we are learning . This is Spanish from Spain as we are studying in Guadalajara close to MAdrid ..
When to use Por qu?

When to use "POR QU? "
Por qu? (why )is normally used to introduce a question .
e.g. :
? Por qu? has tardado tanto en venir ? ( why did you come so late ?)
? Por qu? estas enfadado ? Why are you angry ?
but "por qu?" is not always used in a direct question
e.g.:
No me cont? por qu? le hizo . He didn't tell me why he did it ..
No se por qu? estas triste . I don't know why you are sad ..
When to use por que ?

Por que is a correct form but hardly used . When used it means "por lo cual " o "por la cual"
e.g. :
Este es el camino por que ha huido .. This is the way he used to escape (by which he escaped ) Translation in Englishisn't what it should be )
When to use "porque"

Porque (because ) is used in answers .
e.g.:
He has suspendido porque ha estudiado muy poco .
He has failed because he studied very little
When to use "porqu? "

Porque is used to say "why -the reason why .the motive)
Araceli no me dijo el porqu? de su actitud .. Araceli didn't tell me the reason for her attitude ..
Porqu? is also used in plural :"porqu?s"
e.g. :
Cada uno tiene sus porqu?s .... Everybody has his own reasons
