I've just read over these post and haven't really found what I'm looking for. Can anyone give me input on the problems or hurdles to overcome for my friend in the DR to send a small amount of Brugal (couple of bottles) and some Cigars to me in the US. I was hoping it would be as easy as sticking it in the box and shipping via a reputable shipper. I'm just not sure how customs here would handle it. I'm trying to get some unique gifts since there is no Brugal here.

It seems getting things out of the DR, besides people, is much simplier than getting them in.

Thanks,

Dean

Like booze and tobacco from any foreign country it will be taxed up the wazoo by US Customs. If Cubans, confiscated.

And you would have to use Fedex or DHL and they won't accept flammable substances and the weight would make it very expensive.

Cigar, in limited amounts

Are not much of a problem--

You can ship 50 cigars to an address by UPS or FEDEX at a reasonable cost.

Alcohol is a different story.

Let me know if you need more help.

You can buy Brugal over the internet from stores in the US. That is one option, though it is a little pricey at around $20+ per bottle.
