Heading here for 2 weeks this winter. Anybody have any insights into the place would be great. Where's the best places to eat and what's the best dishes to order? Also any pics you'd care to share would be great. Thanks Allan

Thanks Wud - I'm the same sackie as on Debbies! Still hoping for new news from anyone who's been there recently. No new reviews on Debbies site for some time now.

I am not sure when this winter you are going so this reply my be outdated for you already but others might find it useful.

I just came back from staying at one of the three resorts Palladium has, which are all on the same property. I did not venture to the Palace much but can comment on the Bavaro section which is real close.

Food wise we mostly went to the Caterdal buffet for breakfast and dinner, worked well as we had people with very different tastes in our group and all were pleased with the buffets.

Lunch was usually at the sports bar, food was good there but you very quickly get sick of hamburgers, hotdogs and fries. Only complaint there was they cooked the burgers too quickly and at times they were still pink in the middle.

We did try 3 of the a la carte restaurants, Cantina, Bamboo and Arrefice (something along those lines, spelling could be way off on the last). We enjoyed the first two and would have to say Bamboo was our favourite, the last was a seafood restaurant and even though I am a great fan of it I was not overly impressed with that restaurant. The wine on the wine lists in these restuarants are extra charge but you can order just the house wine and that is included.

The one part we were not expecting was the beach being topless. Although we were not bothered by the fact it was a shock the first time we walked down there and saw a woman with her top off.

I am not sure who you've booked your trip through, ours was with AirTransat. We had an onsite contact through Air Transat, who gave one hour long presentations on the morning after new arrivals to introduce people to the place and answer questions. If your tour company offers this service it is a great place to learn more what the resort offers and I would recommend sitting in on it.

If in need of additional american money, the casino will do cash advances on credit cards with a 7% tax on top. Although they don't like you to just take the cash and walk out, so we usually played $10 worth of slots before going on our way.

Not sure if you have females travelling with you, but if so and they are wanting their hair braided go off the resort for it. Either down the road to Plaza Bavaro or into the beach village. We saved about $65 each by going off the resort.

I had a great time there and hope you do too. I do have pictures I can put up at a later time. Hope you got this before your trip. If anyone has further questions please shout.
