Hi

I am an ESL teacher working in Hong Kong, but will be in DR soon in 2006 looking for work.

I was wondering if anyone had any advice or contacts for a newbie on how to get started or what to expect. Some questions that come to mind are: how long does it generally take to find work, are employers unreliable in terms of pay, what to avoid, dos and donts ect.

Any advice would be helpful!

Thanks

Why don't you sign up with an international teachers' job fair like ISS or Search? Then you could be hired with foreign hire benefits instead of local hire at some of the bigger schools here in the D.R. Or you might find a job in some other part of the world that would suit you even more than moving to the D.R. Good luck in your job search, I hope you get the posting you want.
