Interesting brief from researchers in Colombia:

Given how abundant yucca is in the DR, one wonders if maybe this could be an interesting start-up prospect for the DR. I wonder what the degradability quotient is on this type of plastic, and how porous it is (which would determine whether or not it could be used for things like beverages or cooking oil). Just thinking aloud...

Cute, Ed. Well, who knows, maybe this is a new (eco-friendly) entreprenuerial pursuit for him -- he can become the yucca plastic king of the DR! :cheeky:

The Tainos (like the Arawacks,Mayas etc.) played ""pelota" with rubber balls. They were bouncing and elastics ("vulcanized") several centuries before Goodyear "invented" the process. None of the europeans conquerors was curious to find out how they did it. Their main stapled was Yucca, maybe the european overlooked their plastics articles also. It's time to explore their caves again.
