When planning to come for longer visits of 6 months to a year + do people just get one way tickets? If so how do you fill out the tourist card? Will they give you any hassle at the airport if they notice that you plan to stay for an extended period?

Thanks

Most countries of departure have as a rule that you have a return ticket as well, otherwise you won?t be let on board. Simply don?t use it if you buy a cheap flight, or get a more expensive ticket where you are allowed to make changes and that has long validity.

At PUJ nobody asks for a return ticket.
If you are staying more than two weeks (not 90 days as before), you are supposed to report at immigration that you are going to stay longer than expected and pay RD$200,00 for every 15 days.
If you just "overstay", lets say for a year and get caught than you will have to pay the same amount as an extra tax right there at the airport when you leave.

Its about the departure from your country of orgin, not about the Dominican customs.
You can?t leave your country, it?s not about here.

I never was asked in any country where I have been for a return ticket on departure including my country of origin.
Wouldn't make sense at all, who cares where I want to go after my first stay?
What if I have to make a business trip which includes several different countries?
