I'm pretty new to this format, I've been reading with interest about the 'Sankies', but the majority seem to be males. Do any writers have experience of female 'Sankies' particularly in the Playa Dorada hotels?

Sankiettes never seem to be talked about here. I think it could be because men look at things differently than women do.
They normally find the pay as you go plan or if they are serious about someone they really don't care what the rest of us think about it and keep it to themselves.

And even if they get burned by a sankiette, it costs far less than an affair with a North American. Yes, there are plenty of sankiette?s in the DR, more on the North Coast than other parts of the country. They come in all sizes and shapes and they do not all work in AI Hotels. There is little difference between them and their male counterparts, they start slowly and before you know it the Western Union expenses become more and more.
They use the some different excuses for needing more money, ?baby needs pampers and milk?, ?mom needs an operation?, ?brother unjustly in jail?, ?someone stole all my stuff?, ?my cell phone is broken?, and others.
My advice is, if the sex is that good send a few extra bucks. If not, find a new woman on your next trip.

Sankiettes are usually semi-professionals whose looking for money, visa or both. Generally poor girls from the barrio who are waitressing, bartending or any other low paying jobs. They are not street-walkers so many gringos will think they are normal and honest girls. These chicas usually have a local in town and he just hides when the gringo comes to visit. But gringos never know what these chicas are up to or their background. Even if you pick up a cute chica working at the airport, she still will screw you in hopes of money and items from the US (Regalos) that are not readily accessible in the DR, i.e. i-pods, high-end jeans (Rock & Republic, Citizens of Humanity, etc.), jewelry, etc.
Last year, I got to know a very attractive female waitress at a Casino in Santo Domingo. She is tall, slim, smells good, etc. She is a 10 in my book!!!
I got to know her better. And she gave me her cell number in a small piece of paper. I called her the next day and asked her if she would like to have lunch with me. She said yes.
So my cab driver and I pick her up and we went to T.G.I. Friday's at the Acropolis Mall.............BIG MISTAKE ON MY PART!!!
Why? Well, after lunch, she wants to look at clothes. I said okay. She picks out two pants and two shirts and wants me to buy them for her. I look at the price tag and one pants was around 4,000 pesos!!!
So I kindly told her, "Next time" (<--A very nice way of me saying "NO WAY" or "GET A LIFE" lol)
So she was very very very very very upset.
She told me that all the men she meets, buy her whatever she wants. I said good for her.
I never saw her again.
But in my last trip (two months ago), I saw her with a foreign guy at a restaurant. I smiled and winked at her but she still seemed upset at me. lol :classic:

I agree with you there Helpmann..... However, it is "his" money to burn and not "hers". That is the world of difference and it is his right to do what he wishes to do with "his" money.
This type of thing happens or has has happened to the best of us. As Anna said, not everyone is willing to admit it. For many, the "pay as you go" method is the best. Unless you are living here full time I suggest you just relax and enjoy yourself and not get involved with these female sankies on a fulltime basis.

Well if you go to DR, like a girl and want to take her to bed, you as a man have to do something for her. Many times it's not about being a sankiette. It's about the fact that a woman has value, and a man should be aware of that. You can't expect to be bedding a girl and have nothing to offer her. Why should she go to bed with you? Because you have a cute face ? Please! Any man who is bedding a woman and labels her a sankiette after she asks him for things, shouldn't be bedded in the first place. It's not that she is a sankiette. It's that there is no free lunch.

I do have to agree somewhat with Indiana, here. As we all know, in Latin cultures the men typically expect to pay. A lot of Latino men get a kick out of being able to maintain a woman. And the Latinas expect that the man knows what time it is.
It may seem harsh for non-Latinos, but you will get used to it.
