Blue stands for tranquility. Red for the blood that was shed during the wars to make our country a free nation and White for everlasting peace. If you notice "el escudo" has an open bible which notes the Christianity of the Dominicans. Our constitution was proclaimed in the name of God so the motto of the flag is "Dios, Patria y Libertad" "God, Nation and Liberty"
