We have just booked our first trip to DR for March and I have found this site to be a great source of information.

We will be staying in Cabarete at the Ocean Manor. Hopefully the renovations are completed as we have been assured, if not then I am working on a few contingency plans. If anyone has been past this resort in the last few days and can comment on the condition, I'd really appreciate it!!

What I am curious about is the proper pronunciation of "Cabarate" and "Sosua". I'm sure we will stick out as tourist regardless but I'd rather not compound the issue by mispronouncing these names.

I'm really looking forward to exploring this area, so ny help is greatly appreciated.

Regards,

Thanks for the help! I was pronouncing them correctly after all but it's still nice to be sure.

Can anyone give me an update on the status of the Ocean Manor??

Thanks!

I would say mkohn is correct on Cabarete. Pronounced in English it's 'tea' and rimes with 'me', in Spanish it's 'tay' and rimes with 'may'.
