I'm going to be in DR for about a week mid-March with friends, staying in the Punta Cana at the villas princessa. I'm big into scuba diving, and have heard that trips to Catalina and Sanoa islands are the place to go for unbelievable underwater visibility and diving.
Can anyone recommend good dive operators for such day trips? What's the cost for 2 or 3 tank dives in the day? And if I can only pick one, which island would you recommend? I'm an experienced scuba diver just interested in pretty coral reefs, but open to wall diving if that's available. Not interested in wrecks...
Also, I heard that it's a 2 hour drive from Punta Cana to these places. Would people recommend driving out from PC to the dive shops for day diving trips? Are the roads well lit for night driving? We're renting an apartment in PC for the week so that's where we'll return for the night.
