Where are the delta experts? what are the good news so far on new routes for delta?
Is POP-ATL a definite deal? When do they start and time schedule?
When will they start ATL-STI?
What about JFK - Kiev? Is that a done deal yet? Do they have ukrainian government approval yet?
Is it true delta will start to south africa this year?

Please please give some inside info.

AZB,

All I can say is that I flew with them Business for my Holiday travel in December. Their service was magnificent. Way much better compared to AA's business class. As long as Delta flies to STI I will never fly on AA. No matter if the ticket is 300 bucks cheaper on AA. I am in love with the Delta service.

I've seen some sensitive info on this. There will be a major international push by Delta in 2006, esp. out of Atlanta, JFK, and Frankfurt. The goal is to better service the Latin America/Caribbean and European/Asian markets. The list is too big to note on here, but here's a few new markets (Honduras, Nicaragua, Ecuador, Uraguay, Copenhagen, Barbados, POP, Tel Aviv, etc.)

I'll keep it DR-related, for fear of the DR1 police here. ATL-STI is on permanent hold for now. Delta's pushing for tourist markets. Therefore, ATL-POP is scheduled to begin June or July 1st, I forget exactly.

As a footnote, there may be a significant cutback in employee flight benefits internally. Not sounding good at all, along that front. So enjoy them while they last.

I doubt there will be any strike at Delta. If there was gonna be a strike, it would've been the pilots. They resolved their beef, and they hold the company by balls.

Any other group/department that would even attempt to strike right now might as well kiss their jobs goodbye, because it would make it so easy for Delta to restructure them out of Delta by outsourcing that group/department, esp. under bankruptcy. That's more of what the current fear inside Delta is right now. Which departments will be outsourced.

AZB - re: buddy passes. Tell me about it. I would hate to lose that deal. I've seen many lands, far and away, since the intro to buddy passes. LOL!!!

Outsourceing is the biggest fear in techinical maintenance depts. anyone can get fired anyday. I pray for my brother's job everyday. No one knows what will happen next.

Flight to Kiev is confirmed, but from NYC.

There are not enough passengers to fly ATL POP, so I don't think this flight will happen.

El Tigre: You are talking about DL's service like it is Singapore Airlines, Delta provides normal transportation for passengers like other carriers, there is nothing special, and if you wish to talk about quality, Continental is much better.

I have heard good reviews on singapore ailines but let me tell you about an airlines which did impress me. Business class in virgin atlantic from London to NYC. Wow, what a plane and service. Young attractive physically fit crew and excellent first class service. Enpugh room to walk around in the business class, massage and manicure etc. Some plane.

I just tried to book on Delta for 3/31/06 and I was warned of bankruptcy by the booking agent at Chase rewards program all Delta flights international are coming with this warning.
