Travelling Distances in DR

You need to do Bavaro-Santo Domingo (about 220 kms) and then Santo Domingo-Samana (about 245 kms).

An overland trip, Bavaro-Santo Domingo-Samana, will take most of the daylight hours with a 8 hour minimum as Hlywud explained. This would be for an experienced driver knowledgeble of the route. Much longer for the novice.

If you are flexible, another option would be via surface Bavaro to Sabana del Mar, then take the passenger ferry across the bay to Samana. The travel time may be shorter. However, you are subject to the ferry schedule, seating availability, and favorable weather conditions over the bay.
