My friends want me to bring back a variety of sticks. Where is the best place in Santiago to buy them?

If by some chance you will be near the Puerto Plata area, you can call Colin, aka The Cigar Man.

His # is 809-449-1819 and he will deliver to you.

The cheaper cigars that I found in Santiago are in Mercado Modelo, Calle Del Sol.. near calle Duarte.. but if you want all kinds and more expensive Supermercado Nacional have varieties, forms and different shapes of boxes..

Costco Ny

Last year I bought about $100 US worth of cigars at several places in Santiago. When I got back to NY I saw the same exact cigars in COSTCO, CHEAPER.

Go with Principes that go for RD10-15 each here and tell them you paid US7 for them. I promise you they will not know the difference!

In fact, after introducing the Principe to a good friend of mine who has smoked many expensive cigars hear in the DR he is trying to figure out how to export them(no easy feat).

come talk to me.

Truth said I know more about cigars than most.

1) You cannot buy many brands that people "think" you can find easily.
2) You can get excellent cigars at decent prices.

You are certainly limited as to how many you can take back.

53% Tax on Cigars

The US Senate passed childrens health care legislation yesterday by a "veto proof" margin. It is partially funded by an increase in taxes on cigars. The Increase is from the .05 cents per cigar to 53% of the value at the time it enters the states.

"veto Proof"??????????????????????????

It is "One Thing" to vote on a bill before the US Senate.and "Another Thing" to vote on that bill once it has been "Vetoed" by the President!
We will see what happens when the "Vetoed" bill comes back to the Senate.
Many times a Senator will vote "Yes" the first time, and then vote "No" when it returns,or be marked "Absent". That way he can say; "I voted for the bill before I voted against the bill". "ALA" Sen. Carey :cheeky:;);)

A Senator who reverses his vote on this legislation may as well end his political career. This is a childrens health insurance program funded by a sin tax.

The rather Large Dutchman is not allowed to legally sell his product, which I will vouch for, is very good.
As far as a store, there is no finer one than the one in the Gran Almirante. Well stocked and fairly priced.
