I am currently looking into booking our summer holiday at the momment and the Coral Costa Caribe by Hilton Hotel is currently an option. I have been on the website and seen all the pictures available but has anyone been recently to give me there impression of the hotel? Resort? Activities? Rooms? Restaurants? Many thanks........ I have stayed at this resort many times, most recently in November 2005, and find it to be of an acceptable standard, but pretty average, definately not on the "high end". If the price is right and you guys dont have too many unrealistic expectations, go with it and enjoy the sun! The one thing I particularly like is that it is a smaller, more intimate resort. The summer in this area is pretty quiet and I have never seen this resort too busy at that time of year. This resort is not offered from Canada from April until November due to low season, and in my experience, the clientele at this time of year is predominantly British/European. Activities are pretty standard for an AI, aerobics, non motorized water sports..and a gym which I dont find too good!
Staff are friendly and helpful in all areas. The beach is small and man-made. Like I said, for a good deal, go for it, but dont over pay for this one!

My son just booked a week at this resort in March for $749. plus taxes.
I'll let you know what he thinks!
PS (rumour on the street has it that this resort will soon be closing also to be converted to condos....remember you heard it on DR1 from MommC first!)

I stayed there at the end of December, 2006 for 3 days/2 nights. It was nice, not spectacular...I'd say 2.5, maybe 3 stars, but at the rate I got, $55 night single occupancy, including tax, it was a bargain. It is no longer owned or operated by Hilton though. Also keep in mind that the resorts of Juan Dolio and Boca Chica get VERY crowded on the weekends, especially Sunday, with local day-tripper families.
Also the beach is newly 'renovated' and quite gorgeous! Can't comment on the food or restaurants but there are plenty of good 'off resort' places to eat in JD. My gang enjoyed their stay last year however they spent more time off the resort than on it but they loved the all -inclusive bar!!

If in the next months Globalia Hotels is not taking it over like other Coral Resorts , or it is not bought by any other company ... resort will be converted to condos ! This resort is divided in 3 parts : main building ( old Allegro Diamond ) , North and South buildings . Condos sales will start from North ( cross Boulevard ) . After depends on results will be South , keeping main building for the Vacation Club members ( only business was made profitable in this AI resort ) and hotel guests... and yes the beach is man made but looks much better after regeneration ...
