travel from Bavaro to Samana?

Hello,
We are staying at Bavaro next week but would really like to do the whale tour in Samana as well. Can anyone recommend a good way to get to Samana from Bavaro or should we try to book overnight accomodation in Samana?
Any tips gratefully received, thank you

Maybe there are tours offered at your hotel that enable you to do it in a day, without having to overnight.

If you do it on your own, we suggest you book overnight accommodation in Samana. Cheapest way to go is to ask around to get public transportation to Sabana de la Mar, will cost you about 20% of a taxi. Then take the ferry to Samana. Overnight in Samana to take the whale trip in the morning. You need to reserve. And then take the ferry back to Sabana de la Mar, and return again by public transportation. Two days trip. Our recommendation would be to return on a vacation this same time of the year and limit yourself to Samana.
