POP Apartments

My friends and I are planning to visit puerto plata for a week, from June 3 to the 10th.

We would rather not stay at an AI, but an apartment instead. Does anyone have any suggestions? We would want something relatively close to town, clean and safe. Maybe on the malecon?

There are five of us in total... we would need 3 rooms.

I would appreciate any help/suggestions/advice!

Short term apartment rentals

are harder to find in Puerto Plata city than more tourist oriented locations like Sosua. There are some in Costumbar. Puerto Plata has a number of non-AI hotels which may be a better option for just a week. There are threads about this, but some quick suggestions are Hotel Lormar or Puerto Plata Beach Resort on the Malecon or the Field of Dreams Inn, which is right across from Playa Dorada. The other possibility is that if there is no particular reason you want to stay in Puerto Plata, Sosua would offer a greater variety of non AI options, both hotels and apartments/condos. Also a better beach.

check out my thread in North Coast. i'm getting advice on a few non-ai's in POP.....
