Maybe I read too much into santiagohombre, assumed you would know... never mind... apologies.

There are always cute pups down on the street across from Kentucky Fried Chicken on the side where the government building is. You will also find them near the monument on the street across from the Casino. These people can be negotiated down to a fair price. I once had the guy drop the price five times for me. Point...negotiate. It would be nice if you could buy straight from the cradle so you can see the living conditions first hand of your pup during his first two months. We bought ours from a vet in the Rincon Largo area of Santiago. I thought I would be getting a better animal and paid the money. But unfortunately Mickey has a lot of problems and is a lot of work. I suppose these pet stores buy what they can from barrio pet farms. I say buy a dog off the street that looks in good health. Have him receive all his shots, etc. Read up on training and start him off on a good routine. Best of Luck.

and, now that i am thinking along these lines, there is a guy that sells pups on the corner of Sol and Francia. Ask for "Carbonee" ...Big smile! Nice guy.

If you haven't bought it yet try also Klinika Kanina. 809-581-7829. They are on calle Eugenio Deschamps, a very short street that connects Avenida Juan Pablo Duarte and Avenida Sabana Larga, parallel to Avenida Las Carreras, near Pizza Menay's.
