Hello Everyone,

I am going to DR in October for 10 days. Although I am staying in Higuey for most of the time, I would like to experience an AI for a couple of nights. Can anyone recommed any good AI's in Bavaro/Punta Cana. Thanks.

I have stayed at the following resorts: Occidental Grand Flamenco, Punta Cana Princess, Bavaro Beach and Casino, and Iberostar. All these resorts are very nice, located along the beach and close to shops. Enjoy your vacation.

Based on my experiences and those of trusted friends I can readily recommend Breezes - PUJ; Majestic Colonial, Riu's; Iberostar's; Bahia Principe's and Palladium's. While there are undoubtedly many other good resorts, without trusted input I wouldn't recommend them, on principle.

Some suggestions

Here are some resorts I've stayed at and recommend:

Sunscape the Beach - this is my favourite: beautiful, oceanfront, great food/restaurants, huge pool that runs the length of the resort grounds - stayed here a few times
Grand Flamenco - liked it but didn't love it, the disco Mangu is right there though and it's a good place to party
Ocean Blue - really like this place, no complaints
Iberostar Dominicana - really liked this place too and no complaints on this one either

Enjoy your vacation!

Each time I’ve been I stay at the Punta Cana Princess, the rooms are large, the grounds well kept and it is slightly smaller than the other AI and that is the charm for me. You never feel crowded and always find a spot by the pool or at the beach, I would definitely recommend it, but it really would depend on what you are looking for.

To be honest, you will always see see that thunderstorms are expected everyday in DR. It does not mean it will rain everyday all day. It may rain for like 10 minutes and never rain again for the next two days. Don't worry about the weather too much. Enjoy your vacation

Here are some of the hotels I stayed at and definitely recommend:

1. Ocean Sands - 5 star - opened last year September 2005. Have not heard any complaints. The hotel is pretty big but you will not get lost like some of the hotels I've stayed at. There is a disco which is not that bad..

2. Bavaro Princess - Big resort. Just make sure to have your rooms by the beach because from the lobby to the beach it takes about 15 mins to get there on a train.

3. Ocean Bavaro - Great location, service, restaurants, workers and not pricey at all.

Hope this helps!!!

We are planning a trip to punta cana but I cannot seem to find any straight answers on flyfishing in that area. I hope someone can help. We are planning on being on the eastern end of Punta Cana. Thanks for any info you all may have.

First of all welcome to DR1, you should have started your own thread rather than highjack this one, your questions do not deal with the subject matter of the thread and a new thread would get you more answers, your question is buried in the thread marked as "Good All-Inclusive Resorts "

Eastern end ? Punta Cana runs north and south and is located on the eastern end of the island.

Fly fishing is not prevalent in the area although some do try flycasting in the surf.

Huh!!

Do any AI's include airfare?

If you book a package (which includes airfare, hotel (AI or otherwise, your choice), transfer from Airport to Hotel etc., then yes. If you book an AI Hotel directly, then definitely no, all you have is your reservation at the hotel. If I have inadvertanly misread this question, please elaborate and I am sure you will get the answer you need.

Kmcbiz,

Welcome to DR1.

As you have posted to on older existing thread there is less of a posibility that many people will read it.

I would suggest that you go to the "Travel Questions" forum on the main message board and click on Travel Questions in the left hand column. On the page you are directed to in the upper left hand side you will see "New Thread". Click on that and the page you are directed to just type in your title for the thread and then type your question in the main body any click "submit".

With your own thread you will be helped by our many helpful members. Good luck.

Rick
