The Dominican Republic has turned to baseball legend Sammy Sosa in a bid to lift its economic and marketing image in Asia.
President Leonel Fernandez has been accompanied by the 37-year-old former Chicago Cub as he tries to pitch his country as a trade partner in Asia, saying on Friday a little baseball diplomacy can be a hit in the region
...

The South Korean professional team, the LG Twins, has asked Sosa to throw the opening pitch at one game and Sosa has endorsed several products in Japan.

I guess that they needed someone from recent history, but it would have been nicer to find someone with a cleaner image and not a presumed cheater. :(

Do you think he's really 37?

Perhaps his reputation doesn't proceed him??

At first, I thought this was not a good move on the part of the Dominican government, but in thinking about it, it just might have been a good PR move, as possibly in Asia, Sammy's reputation hasn't proceeded him, and he's still the hero he formerly was in other places.
