Are you renting at the Las Americas International Airport? You should only rent if you have at least five hours before night time. We do not recommend night driving.

If you will be driving from AILA (SDQ), just take the airport road and then turn right which will put you on Las Americas Highway and then the Autovia del Este.

Continue this road all the way East following the signs that say to La Romana.

You want to get on the Autovia del Este which will require you to take the left when the road forks for you to take the road to San Pedro de Macoris or the Boulevard of Juan Dolio.

Unless you want to visit Guayacanes or Juan Dolio (beach and many good restaurants).

Actually, as long as you continue East you can't go wrong. If you miss the stop to La Romana, just go by way of passing through San Pedro de Macoris. Just ask people to head you in the direction of La Romana -- which is East.

Anyway, if you go by way of the Autovia del Este you need to do a detour because the new bridge is not ready, but if you go with the flow, the flow will of the Autovia del Este will be heading to La Romana, so I would recommend to follow the traffic and look for the signs that say La Romana.

Once in La Romana, you continue East until you pass the sign to Bayahibe and then you get to a fork in the road. You take the northern turn to get to Higuey (the southern will take you to Boca de Yuma). From Higuey it is approximately 60 kms to your hotel.

When you get to Veron (easy to recognize because if looks like a town -- all on the highway side) you need to go north again at the stop light in front of a gas station to the Cabeza de Toro turning point -- an east turn. When you get to Cabeza de Toro there is one road you have to follow to find your hotel.

When on the road in the DR, you should ask all the time. Chances are you may find a vehicle to trail -- like a luxury SUV headed to Casa de Campo will put you in the right direction, at least onto the highway to Higuey.

Elsewise, just go stopping all around and asking people.

Note it is a four hour trip, about 225 kms.
