I'm planning my next trip to the Dominican Republic. And I totally don't know what to do?!?!?
I know for sure that I don't want to go to any AI Resort,Since my last visit in The DR I have alergy for Sankies;) .I have been thinking about Santo Domingo or Santiago.I want get to know The DR better before I make any serious decision regarding my moving to the DR.
I need a solid Statement.
How easy is find an apartment for two ,for month or two in Santiago or in the Capital?
Any good Spanish Schools around?
What about private/public transport.Do I need spend fortune for this?
Is there many waterparks?
Are there any music theatre?

I need any useful information or any links to websides or just a little bit of your wiseness;)

Thank you
Momita :glasses:

Well, I think you first need to deside what you want out of your vacation.
Citylife, beach, mountain etc etc. After that it is easier to give advices, there are so many wonderful places on the island. But each with their own speciality... Big city - Santo Domingo or Santiago, Beaches - there is not only Playa Dorada and Sosua... What about Samana, Las Terrenas etc...
Other options can be Altos de Chavon and many, many more.
But first you need to think over what you want to explore, what is important to you. Maybe you don´t want a vacation, but might want to do some volunteer time. Dale ( who also have a blog on DR1 ) have excellent opportunities for that kind of stay here on the island.

Do an investigation and you'll see that she is Polish,
which is contested by her best friend and compatriot la_barbie, who also says, that momita's English is worse than hers. ;)

Alas, enough gossip done, a frog should stay clear of cats... me voy.

Momita:

You can find everything you want in either Santo Domingo or Santiago. There are many places to study Spanish.
There are apartments for rent and public transportation is easy and cheap.

Theater and music are very important parts of the culture of both cities.

Personally, I think Santiago is nicer, since it is smaller and less crowded than Santo Domingo, but has plenty to do. It is also quite close to beaches.

Cordially,

HB :D:D:D

I don't even know what you're referring to.
My last post was putting a question NOT to you.

And:
I drink champagne every day, so you didn't make it.

My apologies to momita I thought she might have been one of your typical Dominican-Yorks Pretending to have "forgotten" her native tongue.
My spelling is hideous due to senility and tee many martoonis.
I stand corrected and will try to stop making assumptions. Sorry.
