Hi! I have a wedding trip planned in November, and I'm wondering if anyone knows of a judge or justice of the peace that would do wedding ceremonies? The resort (in punta cana) that we (80 people) are staying at, only has a
9am time frame left, so we were hoping to hire another judge or JP to perform the ceremony elsewhere. Any ideas?

You can have someone at the hotel make arrangements for a Judge to come from Higuey, the province's capital , out to Punta Cana to perform the service. You will have to pay for the taxi, and probably his day, but that's relatively cheap here in the DR.

Marriage by a judge involves a lot of signatures in two big books, and you need two witnesses. Everyone will need their passports, and you will probably need a certified birth certificate for you and your spouse-to-be. After that, the judge says "do you" and "do you", and then it's on to the food and drink. Don't be surprised if the judge brings several family members along for the luncheon.
