Car Rental help in Santo Domingo

I will be in Santo Domingo at the begining of next month and want to know if anyone has any recommendations for car rentals. Any bad or good experiences they would like to share. Last time I was there was years ago and I just went to expedia.com and rented a car that way. It was a good deal, but that was years ago. Things might have changed by now. Does anyone know any companies to stay away from or companies that they suggest? Any info will be appreciated. Thanks.

I would stick to any of the major companies (National, Avis, Hertz, etc). I have rented many times in the past from National and never had a problem. The one time I tried to use Hertz even though I had a reservation, they ran out of cars.

Make sure you are covered with all the insurance. You credit card may cover you for collision, but probably not for liability or non-accident damage to the car.
