There already is a couple of locksmiths in Puerto Plata.. Let's see who knows where they are...

One is a block north of Supermercado Messon, same side of the street. Another, about 2 blocks from the port.

We must have 250+ of them in Santo Domingo. I find locksmiths here cheap, emergency call out to open your door is about RD$400 (US$12). Having keys cut costs peanuts.

The locksmith business is a little touchy, since they have like a strong union:

I am the manager of a resort on the north coast. We needed a locksmith to masterized the locks for the 242 rooms. Unfortunately we call a lock smith in Puerto plata and told us that another locksmith was in charge for that region.

Called the guy like 10 times never came to the hotel to do job. So I decided to call the first LS, but he told me that he cannot come since it's not his territory.

Well actually I don't know how is it for a foreigner to obtain its own terrirtory but it seems that it's not very easy to enter that business here in the north coast.
